Forever Families

Hope For 100 has its own adoption support ministry called “Forever Families” which is led by John and Robin Daniel from Green Acres Baptist Church.  Forever Families is such a gift to the local adoption community!  Still a rarity in East Texas, this ministry provides ongoing support, training and encouragement specifically to families who have fostered or adopted children.  Would you please spread the word to your friends in our area about this wonderful ministry?

 More Support for Foster/Adoptive Families

You are invited to attend a new Sunday Morning Bible Study at Green Acres Baptist Church.  This is a new group of adults who share a passion for foster and adopted children.  Many have adopted children or are foster parents, but some are just very supportive of these families.  Andrew Bentley leads the Bible study.  The style is one of interactive discussion with some lecture.  It is more than a support group, it is a true Bible study that will challenge and encourage you beyond yourgreyscale-mom-presents.jpgidentity as an adoptive or foster parent.  They meet every Sunday at 8:15 in the Adult Education Building of Green Acres.  There are Bible studies for every age group of children at the same time.  For more information contact Kelvin or Kelli Deshazo atkellideshazo@gmail.com

Adoption Clinics

Do you know someone who wants to know more about adoption or foster care, but doesn’t want to go directly to an agency? Hope For 100 provides a free adoption information meeting where families are given a face-to-face meeting with Tim Clark. Tim and Trena are adoptive parents and will be delighted to give practical advice based on their professional and family experience.  Normally, they hold sessions at Green Acres Outreach Center on North Beckham–daytimes or evenings. Tim’s cell is 903-245-0515.

Denison Forum

The Denison Forum on Truth and Culture (DFTC) (www.denisonforum.org) exists to engage contemporary culture with biblical truth. As a catalyst for moral and spiritual renewal, DFTC is joining God in building a global movement of culture-changing Christians.  We though you may like to read their article on The Orphan Epidemic.  Click on the title and it will link you to the article.

November 11, 2013
Dear Friends,

Hope For 100 began back in 2008 with a challenge to our local Christian community to provide 100 homes for orphans.  Since that time, we have worked to become a voice to the church and families across our region.
In many ways, we represent more of a movement than just a ministry.  Many of you receiving this letter have already been a part of this movement.  Thank You for living out the message!  One result has been that, to this date, 169 children have found a family due to God’s use of our combined efforts–something we are really thankful for.
So, please continue to follow with us and participate in giving families to the fatherless.

Yours on Behalf of Hope For 100,
Tim Clark

Spotlight on an Adoptive Family

Stephanie and Paul

with Dakota and Noah

The Scotts

Tim first met Stephanie and Paul Scott in September 2012. Stephanie came to visit the Hope For 100 office for some counsel on starting out in adoption. At this stage, the Scotts had no children. We advised them about infant adoption-as it felt right at the time. The Scotts have both a great love for God and a real desire to serve, so we should have known that this was going to lead to something different!

In December of 2013, two boys, aged 9 & 11 named Jonah and Douglas became available for adoption. These boys had not been subject to serious abuse and neglect and had recently been in a failed adoptive placement. It was a desperate situation and many people in the Tyler area were praying hard for an answer on their behalf-in particular, a family. Hope For 100 was able to introduce the Scotts to For the1–an organization under the umbrella of Loving Alternative Adoption Agency. Amazingly, the Scotts decided that they were THE family for these two special boys. We also gave some further help with counsel and training in preparing the Scotts to have the boys in their home in December. A challenging journey followed, for both the boys and the parents! Lots of hurt and lots of loss had to be dealt with, but God has graciously used Paul and Stephanie to provide not only a home, but to be a big part of the healing process in these boys’ lives. Surely we should never underestimate just what God can do through us when we avail ourselves to Him. The Scotts have said that, for them, as well as for the boys, this has been a story of God exchanging “beauty for ashes.” In June of 2013, the Scotts finalized their adoption of Jonah and Douglas who have changed their names to Noah and Dakota.

Advocacy Opportunity
Thank you to those of you who are being a voice for the orphan in your church and community!… Orphan Sunday (Nov. 3rd) has come and gone, but we have been noticing that many churches in the Smith County area have been willing to use different dates for this in the month of November.  Would you ask your pastor/church leader to give a time slot in one of the Sunday services in the month of November or a different month?  Perhaps you already have some creative ideas.  If not, then please call us.  Let’s make the most of this opportunity on behalf of the fatherless!
November 16th from 4:30PM until 9:00PM: Tyler Forever Families would like for you and your family to join us for a bonfire and hayride at Allen Farm in Chapel Hill. Please RSVP or get more info by email toj.daniel@tylerforeverfamilies.org.
