That’s Not Fair!


Not a day goes by at our house without hearing the words, “That’s not fair!”  from our children.  What they are really saying is, “I’m jealous!”  In their immaturity, they correlate sameness with fairness.

If we (parents) cave to these outbursts, however, we would not be treating our children fairly.  We should try to meet the individual needs of our children based upon their ages, development, emotional needs, social needs, physical needs, medical needs, etc.  Treating children the same is neglectful of their specific needs.
