Dear Friends and Champions of Children,
We would like to invite you to join us this fall for Empowered to Connect Parent Training, a special nine week training course for adoptive and foster parents. Throughout the nine weeks we will learn more about ourselves and our children, learn amazing facts about neuroscience, and be given new tools to help us connect to our children, even while correcting. We believe that the tools provided in this course will forever change your parenting and many of your other relationships for the better.

Class Schedule The Connect Course includes the following nine sessions designed for parents who have already adopted or are already serving as foster parents: • September 14, 2014: Building a Foundation of Connection • September 21, 2014: Understanding What Your Child Brings to the Relationship • September 28, 2014: Examining What You Bring to the Relationship (Part 1) • October 5, 2014: Examining What You Bring to the Relationship (Part 2) • October 12, 2014: Attachment: Discovering the Heart of Connection • October 19, 2014: Understanding the Needs of the Whole Child • October 26, 2014: Putting It All Together: Connecting While Correcting (Part 1) • November 2, 2014: Putting It All Together: Connecting While Correcting (Part 2) • November 9, 2014: Putting It All Together: Connecting While Correcting (Part 3) During the in-class sessions participants cover the above material contained in the ETC Parent Training Manual. In addition, the in-class sessions are supplemented by weekly assignments, including reading and a variety of participatory “at-home” exercises. All training sessions will be held in Lighthouse Room 352 at Green Acres Baptist Church from 5:30 PM until 7:00 PM on Sundays beginning on September 7, 2014. Children are welcome to take part in the AWANAs program or other age appropriate classes. |
